August 2017.

As it happened at the beginning of the garden season, I was very late with one of the posts. So it happens now, simply too much to do and not enough time to organize the thoughts.

I will start with the sad news. Molly went to the big pasture by the Rainbow Bridge.. We’ve had her for 10 years or so, and she was old when we got her. She had a good sheep’s life for the last 10 years. No more babies, eat all the grain and hay you want, get out into the garden. Treats like cucumbers, apples and squash were her favorite. She moved with us from Colorado. And she had the cutest little wrinkle on her nose. She will be missed, like all that went to the Bridge before her.

On a lighter note, Comfort, the dachshund is 17 and Puzzle , great dane/mastiff is 12 and they both lived another year. Here they are charging in the sun. We are grateful πŸ˜‰

………………………………..

Some garden pictures and a tub of cucumbers pickling. I don’t can them, for one reason, they never last long at our house for the other, well…I am not very good at it and they come out cooked. And this is not a very tasty, believe me πŸ˜‰ so I just put them in the fridge after Β 24 hours.

………………………………………………..

Frank and I were off for the whole two weeks! We’ve never had two weeks off together, even when we got married, only were able to get one week off work. It was a blast! We left the house three time in this whole time and simply enjoyed our life. Something to be said about getting old πŸ˜‰ simple pleasures are so much more attractive and enjoyable, to us, anyway.

We helped the childΒ move to the dorm, went to the Doll show and worked on the projects around the house and garden.

………………………………………..

Alice went to the State Fair. I want to go every year and every year I end up not going. mainly because , I think I ‘faired out’ in Alice’s younger years, when we did 4H πŸ˜‰ It was fun then, but we went to Colorado State fair every weekend (4hours drive one way!) with different projects, not to mention the whole week on the county fair before that. And I am thinking I had enough of that to last me a long time. πŸ˜‰

This month’s doll addition is Β Dino Bambino. A little pink Dinosaur, that came all the way from Poland, made by a talented artist Mirella von Chrupek. She came with her sister, who by now has moved away with Alice and lives in St. Paul. So we have a country Dino and a city Dino. Β SheΒ announced that her name is going to be Clover and she will have her own story posted on the doll Page some time later, when the garden is put to bed, tomato sauce is mage and squash is in the freezer πŸ˜‰ Β But meantime here are some pictures.

We did not touch the Bees in August at all. Just let them bee πŸ˜‰

Thanks for reading

Life is good
